Eat, play, love; whatever you’re after, there’s something for you in Holborn. The district has become one of London’s hottest areas recently, partly due to its amazing central location and partly because of the range of different restaurants you’ll find there. Not quite as in your face as nearby Soho, but still with plenty going on, Holborn makes for a great day or night out in the city.
Here’s one of our top picks for you to explore in Holborn.
The Hoxton Hotel is a little bit like an incredibly trendy Toys R Us for adults - it’s got everything you could possibly want all under one roof. Primarily, but not limited to being, a hotel, the Hoxton has only just recently opened on High Holborn and with it it has added a lovely bit of quirkiness - you can never have enough really, can you?
There are four choices of room at the Hoxton: Shoebox, Snug, Cosy and Roomy. Each one has been designed to ensure that the essentials are there, and nothing else. But kitsch accommodation is just one of the many aces up the Hoxton’s sleeve - here’s a few other things you should know about this wonderful surprise package.Shoebox, Snug, Cosy and Roomy. There’s plenty to eat
One thing’s for certain, you won’t go hungry at the Hoxton. Take your pick from three very different restaurants that it has on site. First you have Hubbard & Bell, a grill that specialises in all things Brooklyn. Think old-school American diner with a vintage twist and you’re almost there. The hotel’s main restaurant boasts an all-day menu, packed with big portions and naughty treats - forget the diet at the door, you won’t be needing it.
Downstairs in the basement, you’ll find the Hoxton’s version of fast food - the Chicken Shop. Here, it’s all about rotisserie chicken; just pick your dream side and get on with it. It’s hassle free, it’s cool, but most importantly, the food is awesome.
Not after anything too heavy? Well, the Hoxton has you covered - it’s the hotel that just keeps on giving. Holborn Grind has got brewing down to a fine art, whether you’re after a coffee to get you going in the morning or a cocktail to get you going at night. There’s also a fine selection of light bites including pasties and sandwiches, if you need to add a little fuel to the fire before heading out in the city.
Feel like a little beautification? Well, look no further than the Cheeky Salon, basically next door. Nails, make up, feet, whatever kind of treatment you’re after, you can find it here. It’s conveniently placed just next to the hotel so you can easily stop in and get beautiful before heading next door to begin a big night out.
The Hotel is right next to the Holborn Underground station, which you can get to on either the Central or the Piccadilly lines.
Holborn is filled with top-class bars, whether you’re after fine cocktails, craft beers or good wine. After the Hoxton Hotel, try Brown Sugar for a a little mixology or Polski Bar for some Eastern European drinking fun.
