Renting with Pets just got easier

Renting with Pets just got easier

Outlet has made renting with pets a lot less stressful. That's because we've launched a new facility that will help people and their pets find a rented home.

The innovative new feature on outlet4property.com will take away much of the worry and hassle for people who own a dog, cat or other animal but struggle to find somewhere suitable to live.

Josh, our Managing Director, said: “Landlords are often reluctant to allow people with pets to rent their properties, which can mean that perfectly responsible tenants are being turned away. This can cause unnecessary stress for people and, in the most extreme cases, means people have to give away their beloved pets. So as animal lovers, we decided to help.”

The search facility can now filter all lettings properties where pets are allowed to move in with their owners. It will save time for those who are searching and, it is hoped, will also help address the assumption that people with pets are not suitable tenants.

Josh added: “The pet owners we have helped to find homes for are all model tenants. They are responsible, considerate and jolly nice people. It’s a shame that landlords are turning away excellent candidates simply because they will be bringing an animal to live with them. They could be missing out on large amounts of rental income.”

The launch of the new website search facility coincides with us joining the Lets with Pets scheme, run by Dogs Trust, the UK’s largest dog welfare charity. The organisation launched the scheme in 2009, encouraging landlords and lettings agencies to accept pets - offering pet owners the opportunity to keep their beloved animals, while increasing rental income for landlords.

Clare Kivlehan, outreach projects manager for Dogs Trust, said: “We are pleased that Outlet has joined our Lets with Pets scheme and taken the initiative to add this search facility to its website. It can be difficult for people with pets to find a place to rent and having this facility in place will make searching much easier.”
