April 22 is the official day we celebrate our planet. It's been officially recognised as this date by a not-for-profit organisation called Earth Day, which is on a mission to build the world's largest environmental movement.
We're celebrating and supporting Earth Day at Outlet, as we've always been the property company that makes an effort to look after the environment. We plant a tree for every property we let and we also promote low-carbon-footprint initiatives in our office and our marketing communications. Read more about the way we give back, here.
Since the first Earth Day in 1970, the environmental network has developed partnerships with more than 50,000 organisations in nearly 195 countries to build environmental democracy. Over a billion people now participate in Earth Day activities each year, making it the biggest publicly observed global day ever.
Just some of the achievements the network can lay claim to over the last 47 years include the landmark Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act and many other groundbreaking environmental laws soon followed. And 20 years later, Earth Day went global, encouraging 200 million people in 141 countries to support and raise awareness of environmental issues on a worldwide stage.
This year, as with all other years, the emphasis is on spreading the message that our planet matters and we can all play a part in protecting it. You an find out more at earthday.org
