When it comes to birthdays, most of us are happy with a few presents and a big wedge of cake. Some of us might have a big old bash to celebrate or a few cocktails with the boys/girls.
That’s why it’s so amazing that one of Outlet’s own team members decided to pass on the booze and do something utterly selfless (and a little mad) for her most recent birthday.
Rather than spend it drinking, dancing or enjoying copious amounts of Victoria Sponge, one of our Sales Co-ordinators, Michelle Jones (pictured above with her co-skydiver), has jumped out of a plane at 15,000 feet!
“I just wanted to do something a bit different for my birthday. I usually go away or abroad. This year I thought I’d combine it with a skydive for a good cause”, Michelle told us.
So far, her slightly insane plummet to earth at high speed has raised an amazing £700 for Crisis, a charity that is dedicated to ending homelessness with life-changing services.
Amazingly, our Michelle took it all in her stride and told us she wasn’t even nervous. “I don’t know why, but I was fine on the day and even before I jumped. Once I landed I just wanted to do it all again. When we first jumped from the plane, the wind was loud and I hadn’t expected it to be so cold – it was -30 degrees! But then when the parachute opened it was so quiet and a really great experience. I loved it.”
So why was Crisis her chosen charity? Michelle added: “Crisis has always had quite an impact on me. I think they do really important work. I know there are plenty of health charities out there but without a stable home or homelife everything else is impossible.”
Massive congratulations from all of us, Michelle! Josh the boss says he’s going to do the next one with you.
