2017 Pride Guide - London

2017 Pride Guide - London
Posted by Russell Wells

This year’s London Pride theme couldn’t be more Outlet. ‘Love Happens Here’ is the official slogan for the festival and parade, which culminates in a fabulous parade tomorrow (Saturday 8 July). We think it’s a terrific message given everything that’s gone on over the past 12 months and we are all about sharing the love.

This year marks 50 years since parliament first voted to legalise homosexuality in the UK, which is as good a reason as any to get out and celebrate. But although being gay is no longer illegal here in the UK, there is still work to be done when it comes to tolerance here and around the world. The Pride celebrations are a good opportunity for people from all sexualities, race, religion and background to band together and show that love wins.

This year’s Pride in London parade takes place on Saturday, 8 July at 1pm. It’s a 1.4-mile (2.3km) route starting north of Oxford Circus on Regent Street. The parade is said to be one of the biggest and best yet, with more than 300 groups marching. You can read who those are here.

For those of you who love musical entertainment, there will be big named acts kicking off the fun on stage from 12 midday to 8pm. Head along to Trafalgar Square to see the likes of Glee's Amber Riley, X Factor stars Saara Aalto and Fleur East, The London Gay Big Band and Pride’s Got Talent finalists. There will be pop-up bars nearby for refreshments and to help you get the party started.
